Physical therapy helps to relieve pain and restore lost function and mobility across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Allegheny Medical’s team can manage general orthopedics, back and neck conditions, joint rehabilitation, pre and post surgical rehabilitation, acute and chronic pain, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, biomechanical problems, postural correction and gait dysfunction, muscle imbalances and instability, headaches and migraines, sports related injuries, concussions and vestibular rehabilitation, neuromuscular conditions, work injury rehabilitation, and reduced fitness levels secondary to illness.
If you struggle with any physical injury or debilitating condition, our team of expert physical therapists can provide relief from the frustrations related to your limited mobility. We ensure appropriate case management of work-related injury and rebuild strength and movement, especially when you are into sports. Our care can also offer greater relief than taking pain relief drugs - a major benefit, considering the risks associated with many medications.
Depending on the condition physical therapy can last just a few weeks to multiple months, with sessions ranging from once a week to three times a week. Within the first few visits, you should notice reduced pain and some functional improvement; however, increases in strength and range of motion may take longer, and may require a longer treatment plan as well as at-home exercises.
Feeling unbalanced can be frightening and cause physical and emotional distress. If you experience dizziness, spinning or whirling sensations, feelings of floating, constant or repetitive headaches, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), a pain of fullness in the ears, and/or poor balance, our physical therapists may be able to help.
Our team can treat vestibular disorders - issues that affect the vestibular system. This includes parts of the inner ear and brain that help control balance and eye movement. If the system is damaged by disease, aging or injury, a vestibular disorder can result. In addition to causing distressing symptoms, the extra physical and mental effort required to manage said symptoms and maintain balance can result in significant fatigue. Difficulty concentrating and memory loss can easily occur as well. Fortunately, treatment is available - specifically with Dr. Krista Campbell, trained and certified in Vestibular Disorders.
At Allegheny Medical, we offer holistic wellness and preventative care, as well as individualized care. We look at you as a whole and operate with a “whole body approach.” Our practice was nominated and voted as Pittsburgh’s Best of Physical Therapy two years in a row. We employ licensed doctors of physical therapy with DIRECT ACCESS, so there is no referral needed for patients to obtain care.
Because people of all ages need to move and function, our physical therapist team works with patients and clients at any age - including adolescent to elderly. Call us at 412-494-4550 or book an appointment online!
