About Me

Shyam Thakkar, MD, serves as director of Developmental Endoscopy. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Allegheny General Hospital. His advanced endoscopy fellowship was completed at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard Medical School. He specializes in advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

Dr. Thakkar is certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Gastroenterology, Natural Orifice Surgery and Consortium for Assessment and Research, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He joined ACDH in 2008. Dr. Thakkar is one of the region’s innovators of novel technologies in the treatment of patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
