Great surgeon. Had an issue at home due to a potential infection and was back at the St Anne's ER 2 days later for an 8 hour intravenous drip . That had nothing to do with Dr. Katz, he had a family wedding to attend on Long Island, and was away for about a week after the surgery. He did an excellent job, he even removed stitches from my forehead that were from a Mohs surgery the week before! The IV experience left me a bit jaded when it came time for my other knee surgery about 4 years later. I regret that I went to Beth Israel in Boston for that one. That was a "conventional" knee surgery (TKR). In that case, my knee was closed using both string and staples. I never had any significant swelling or seepage. However, after a few years the conventional knee surgery always feels like a foreign object and is uncomfortable. The Makoplasty knee done by Dr. Katz has always been very comfortable and feels totally natural. I have much more confidence in the knee replaced by Dr. Katz and regret having the "conventional" TKR at Beth israel. I never had a infection issue with the Beth Israel TKR, but it has never felt natural. The knee replacement done by Dr. Katz feels comfortabley natural.
