My husband was admitted into St. Anne's hospital with a TIA. He previously had a stroke and has lost his short term memory. He is very frustrated with himself because he can't remember even the simplest things. Dr. Cao was the hospitalist that came to see him. Dr. Cao the first night spent a lot of time listening to my husbands concerns, especially about the memory loss.
The following day Dr. Cao made his rounds and again listened to my husband. I was not there for this visit. When I got to the hospital my husband said that Dr. Cao had come in and wrote a message. I was overwhelmed with emotion when this is what I read: " Our brain is for thinking not for storage". That little sentence means so much. The fact that he took the time to write it to us means so much. So now that little sentence is helping my husband to begin to not be so stressed and worried that he can't remember things. I have taken that piece of paper and put it in a small frame on our coffee table so my husband can see it everyday and remember that special doctor who took just an extra 5 minutes to care about a stranger.
