About Me

Edward R. Westrick, MD is an attending Orthopaedic Surgeon, in the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma at Allegheny General Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his Orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed a yearlong research fellowship in the University of Pittsburgh Ferguson Laboratory for Orthopaedic and Spine research. He also completed an additional Super Chief year at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on orthopaedic trauma and adult joint reconstruction. He then completed an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, one of the most respected trauma centers in the world.

Dr. Westrick specializes in treating complex injuries caused by trauma, and his interests include fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum (hip socket), upper and lower extremities, fracture non-unions (unhealed fractures), and fracture mal-unions (fractures that heal out of proper alignment). He has a particular interest in complex fractures of the foot and ankle.

Dr. Westrick is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Pennsylvania Medical Society and Allegheny County Medical Society. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Westrick is currently a member of the Orthopaedic Residency Clinical Competency Committee, an Orthopaedic Representative for the Patient Safety & Quality Assurance Committee, and also a member of the Perioperative Executive Committee at Allegheny General Hospital. He is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine.
