About Me

Indu G. Poornima, MD is the Director, of the Women’s Heart Center, in the Division of
Cardiology at Allegheny General Hospital. She received her medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Madras, India and completed her internship and residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. She completed a fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and an advanced fellowship in nuclear cardiology at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Poornima is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and National Lipid Association. She is Board certified in cardiovascular disease and in nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Poornima currently serves as Medical Director of Nuclear Cardiology and is the Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program for Allegheny Health network. She is Associate Professor of Medicine, Drexel University College of Medicine.
