About Me
Sam Akhavan, MD is the Director of Research, Orthopaedic Department at Allegheny General Hospital. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at Case School of Medicine in Cleveland. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and his Allen Research Fellowship at Case School of Medicine.
Dr. Akhavan is a member of the Warthog Society, American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Akhavan currently serves as Director of Research and Assistant Program Director at Allegheny General Hospital and is a member of the Allegheny Health Network Research Council and Chairman’s Executive Committee. He is a physician leader in the Electronic Medical Record Committee. Dr. Akhavan is an Assistant Professor at Temple University and Program Director for Allegheny General Hospital’s Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship.
