About Me
Dr. Schiffman is a board-certified general surgeon and surgical oncologist who specializes in treating patients with complex abdominal malignancies including cancerous conditions of the liver, bile duct, pancreas, stomach, small bowel, colon and peritoneum.
Dr. Schiffman’s practice includes the usage of minimally invasive surgical techniques and the latestadvancements in chemotherapy treatments, including cytoreduction and HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy). In addition, she is specialty-trained in liver, bile duct and pancreatic surgery. She advocates a team-oriented healthcare approach with an emphasis on education and clear communication with her patients.
She earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed her general surgical residency at the University of Louisville where she served as administrative chief resident. Following residency, Dr. Schiffman completed fellowships in both surgical oncology and hepatobiliary surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Throughout her medical training, Dr. Schiffman has received several awards, published in numerous peer reviewed medical journals and authored multiple textbook chapters. Her recognitions have included, Outstanding Performance by a Surgical Resident and Research Award for Best Manuscript. She has also received grant support for a clinical trial that advanced options for patients with inoperable bile duct tumors.
