About Me
Dr. Aziz serves as Director of the Division of Complex Intracranial Surgery and Director of the Neurocritical Care Unit, Skull Base and Cerebral Vascular Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, as well as Associate Professor of Neurosurgery for the Drexel University College of Medicine.
He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. After receiving his medical degree and a PhD degree in Neurosurgery with high honors from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Aziz attended the University of Cincinnati, where he completed a second residency, a research fellowship and a clinical fellowship in skull base surgery.
Dr. Aziz is one of the world’s leading experts on minimally invasive eyelid surgery for brain aneurysms and skull base tumors, endoscopic pituitary tumors and endoscopic brain tumor surgery. He currently has one NIHfunded grant for studying brain aneurysm tissue. He is the director of a national course in microscopic and endoscopic skull base surgery held yearly in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He also has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of topics including brain tumors, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuroma tumors, skull-base tumors, brain aneurysms and cerebrovascular malformations, intraventricular tumors and microvascular decompression for cranial nerve disorders.
